New direction advises doctors to discuss end-of-life care with terminally-ill patients. Doctors should support terminally ill patients to talk about their end-of-life care plans up to a year before they are expected to die. It reflects a trend to involve patients more in decision-making, and give them more choice about where they want to die. However, it says there is "no absolute compulsion to extend life irrespective of the consequences for the patient and irrespective of the patient's views". Therapy of patients at the end of their lives is one of the most difficult areas for doctors.

My reaction:
I think that this is a good decision. People should have the right to discuss about their end of life. On the other hand, I understand that people that are not in that situation find it difficult to imagine. We are talking a big deal about here. Next to that, the doctors have a big part in this discussion because they are responsible for the patient. It is everything but easy to talk about death, but I think that it will relieve the patients in question.

Dear Alinda,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBe careful that you are not simply changing one word per sentence i.e. treatment for therapy (especially as this is no longer grammatically correct). You also need to work on your reaction. It must be 100 words minimum.
